What is FloraGLO® Lutein?

What is FloraGLO® Lutein?

Glotrition has a new addition to the family – Afterglo Gummiceuticals. Your personal wrinkle rescue, Afterglo Gummiceuticals target skin elasticity, skin tone and hydration, helping our skin to bounce back to how it acted when we were younger. The result is smoother, more even looking skin. The key ingredient - 10mg of clinically proven FloraGLO®. In today’s Glomission, we take a deeper dive into Afterglo’s most interesting ingredient, FloraGLO®.

FloraGLO® is a lutein, a powerful antioxidant and part of the carotenoid family. Carotenoids are a type of phytonutrient found in the cells of many types of plants and responsible for their vibrant colors. Known to protect the body in many ways, lutein has been clinically proven in human trials to help multiple aspects of skin aging as well as provide protection from environmental aggressors.

Clinical studies have shown that FloraGLO® protects and nourishes skin from the inside. Not only has it been proven to support healthy skin, but it also improves skin hydration and elasticity. It does this by increasing the production of hyaluronic acid, a powerful humectant that keeps skin hydrated and plump which equals healthy, smoother, younger looking skin.

The lutein molecule is unique in that it can position itself both parallel and perpendicular to the surface of the cell membrane which not only improves structural stability, it offers protection to the entire lipid bilayer (the membrane that forms continuous barriers around all cells.) Within the skin’s cellular membranes, lutein acts as an antioxidant and highly effective absorber of blue light.

As an antioxidant, FloraGLO® has been shown to help protect the skin from free radicals and oxidative stress. It also helps reduce the oxidation of lipids on the skin’s surface, one of the key processes that contributes to skin aging. FloraGLO® enriches the skin with strong oxidative protection.

FloraGLO® not only helps filter blue light, but it even absorbs it to protect skin cells. Blue light is part of visible light, and it’s unavoidable. We are exposed to blue light from sunlight, artificial lights, and even our digital devices. Unlike UV light that only penetrates the surface layers, blue light penetrates the entire depth of our skin. Blue light excess exposure can result in free reactive oxygen species that can damage skin-cell tissue. By filtering the blue light, FloraGLO® helps reduce the formation of free radicals in the skin.

While we do get lutein from the food we eat, most people only get about 10% of the lutein needed from diet alone. The lutein in FloraGLO® is naturally sourced from marigold flowers and is the same absorbable form of lutein found in common foods. Scientific studies have shown that 10mg of FloraGLO® Lutein is the clinically effective amount for use in ingestible beauty from within products, the exact amount that Glotrition put into Afterglo.

With so many benefits to the skin, it’s easy to see why Glotrition identified and utilized FloraGLO® Lutein as a key ingredient in their new Afterglo Gummiceuticals.
