A recent clinical trial determined that the oral intake of the same Bioactive Collagen Peptide (BCP) found in Glotrition’s Super Beauty Elixir has a positive effect on hair thickness. The study included 44 healthy women between 39 and 75 who each received a daily dosage of 2500mg of the BCP (that’s the same amount found in a daily dose of the Elixir) or a placebo for 16 weeks. After the treatment period, hair thickness was compared with the thickness at the beginning of the trial and the data showed a statistically significant increase (37%!!) in hair thickness in the group that received the BCP compared to the control group. (Even more interesting…there was a slight decrease in hair thickness in the placebo group.)

Additionally, this trial also looked at the proliferation rate of human hair follicle cells and found it was distinctly higher after the BCP treatment – an average of 31% higher than untreated cells. Since we know the hair papillae are embedded in a dense extracellular matrix, it could be speculated that the efficacy of BCP to stimulate the synthesis of matrix molecules may also have a positive impact on hair follicles and promote cell proliferation. Bottom line? There's some pretty solid evidence that BCPs can help your hair grow too.

We know from other clinical studies that orally administered collagen peptides improve microcirculation and increase blood supply. This could also have an effect on the metabolism of the hair cells and subsequently lead to increased hair thickness.
